The short answer
Bathroom adaptation grants in Cork: the short answer
Cork City Council or Cork County Council pays the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability, up to €40,000, and the Mobility Aids Grant, up to €8,000, towards an accessible bathroom. The work must not start until the council approves it. Bathroom Renovation Cork is not a council and doesn't award grants.
The grants
Three grants, one application form
| Grant | Most it pays | Income | Bathroom work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability | €40,000 | Up to 100% under €37,500, tapering to 30% near €75,000; nothing over it | Accessible shower, downstairs toilet or shower room |
| Mobility Aids Grant | €8,000 | Up to €37,500 | Level-access shower, grab rails |
| Housing Aid for Older People | €10,700 | Up to €75,000, aged 66 or over | Essential repairs, not a bathroom upgrade |
One form covers all three. The council decides which one fits.

- The grant doesn't cover the VAT on the work.
Those are Cork County Council's bands. Check the current band with your council before you count on it.
